Dodgers Interested in Free Agent RHP Jeremy Jeffress

The Dodgers could stand firm on their current bullpen situation and still have one of the best relief crews in the league. They could also look into adding a decent arm as well, though it would likely have to be an inexpensive option for Andrew Friedman and the front office.

The Dodgers were once again tied to another reliever today after also being rumored to be in on Kirby Yates. MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand included Los Angeles on the list of teams that were looking into Jeremy Jeffress after a big season with the Cubs.

After re-signing Blake Treinen and adding in a few smaller contracts, many felt the Dodgers might be done with their bullpen. They also have Brandon Morrow, Jimmy Nelson, and Brock Stewart on minor league contracts to add to their options.

Jeffress spent the 2020 season with the Cubs making 22 appearances. Through 23.1 innings of work, he looked like the 2018 All-Star version of himself with Milwaukee. His strikeout rate went down, but his groundball rate and left on-base percentage improved greatly. Jeffress did see his walk-rate go up though, something the Dodgers can certainly work out.
