It wasn’t long ago that Max Holloway was a UFC champion on a massive winning being talked about as potentially the greatest featherweight of all time. Heading into UFC on ABC 1, the conversation has shifted.
Holloway is set to meet Calvin Kattar on Saturday in a pivotal main event on “Fight Island,” his first non-title fight since June 2016. Holloway is 1-3 in the past four fights, which includes an interim lightweight title loss to Dustin Poirier and back-to-back losses to Alexander Volkanovski, who claimed the 145-pound title from “Blessed.”
The upcoming encounter with Kattar feels like a crossroads fight of sorts for Holloway, which is wild to think about when you consider he’s just 29. Without question Holloway is facing pressure, but is he in a must-win situation? Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, Nolan King, and Brian “Goze” Garcia weighed in during this week’s episode.
