The name Austin Donley might not ring a bell to you right off the bat, but trust that you know him. Austin is one of the many in the crowd these days at Dodger Stadium in cardboard cutout form. Moreover, he gained notoriety around baseball early this season after a Will Smith home run decapitated him (in cardboard cutout form) in the first week of games.

Well, the follow up goes that Smith did actually send Donley a signed bat along with a nice note…

The story doesn’t end there apparently. During the Dodgers’ 10-6 come from behind win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night, Austin was once again assaulted. …in cardboard cutout form.

This time, Mookie Betts sent a high flyball into the non-existent lap of Donley which knocked his already broken cardboard head around. On the second occurrence, Austin suggested that he needs to go buy a lottery ticket, which probably is not a bad idea. Additionally, he was at a loss for words in a DM with DodgerNation.com
If there’s anything we’ve learned about Mookie Betts in his short time with Los Angeles is that he’s a giving man. Austin should probably keep an eye out on his mailbox over the next week or so.
Also, it’s not at all what we’d prefer, but these cardboard cutouts are fun.
