Dodgers: Justin Turner Nominated for the 2020 Roberto Clemente Award For His Humanitarian Efforts

Since the day they arrived to the Dodgers, Justin Turner and his wife Kourtney have been a fixture in the Los Angeles community. The husband and wife duo are constant;y involved in efforts off of the field to better the world around them.

This week, Justin Turner was nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award for his efforts off of the field. Each year, every MLB team nominates one person to represent as their nominee. Mike Trout and Drew Pomeranz were the other two Southern California nominees from the Angels and Padres.

The Dodgers’ third baseman spoke about his nomination and what it means to him.

Being nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award by this great organization is something that my wife Kourtney and I are so proud of, and it’s truly an honor to be recognized. We feel so fortunate to be able to give back – especially during these hard times due to the coronavirus – and support our homeless veterans, hospitals, schools and youth sports. We have the greatest fans in all of baseball who support us year-round, and we have a duty, a responsibility to give back to the community above and beyond.

Justin and Kourtney have spent much of their time during this pandemic working tirelessly to support small businesses and those in need. Every day from March through June, the Turners would order thousands of meals from local restaurants to be delivered to the Dream Center in Los Angeles to help serve the hungry. They also helped donate meals to the staff at the Children’s Hospital in LA during the pandemic as well.

The number of things JT does for Los Angeles and for the Dodgers is extensive, and we are incredibly thankful for what he has done. The list of Roberto Clemente Award winners throughout the years is full of rich history, including 19 hall of fame players winning the award. Baseball is so much more than just a sport.
