Norwegian striker Jens Petter Hauge is ‘very flattered’ after hearing that Manchester United sent a scout to watch him play at the weekend.

The 20-year-old forward plays for Bødo / Glimt, currently sitting top of the Norwegian Eliteserien table, unbeaten 14 games into the season.

Hauge has been a big part of their success, scoring eight goals in 13 starts so far this campaign.

The Norway Under-21 international has attracted interest thanks to his fine form, which has also seen him provide seven assists since the start of the season.

United scout Tommy Møller Nielsen was in attendance as Bødo / Glimt beat Sandefjord 2-1 on Sunday, although Hauge failed to keep up his recent goal-scoring form.

The young forward is still pleased that he has attracted attention though, although he says he is trying not to think about it.

‘It’s quite clear,’ Hauge told Eurosport, via Sport Witness. ‘When a club like Manchester United comes on the field, it will always be interesting.

‘If that’s right [that Møller Nielsen was watching him], then it’s very positive. But it’s not something I can go around thinking about, because then my performance will drop.

‘I have to focus on delivering. I will of course be very flattered if this is true, but I am now concentrating on performing with Glimt.’

The Red Devils scout was coy on who he was at the match to watch, although he did bring up Hauge’s name.

‘As Manchester United’s senior scout, I have a responsibility to keep up to date with what is happening in Scandinavia,’ he said. ‘Jens Petter Hauge plays, yes, but so do the rest of the players on the pitch. I check out all the players.’

Hauge has reportedly also caught the attention of Turkish side Trabzonspor and Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge.
