Juventus want Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to replace Maurizio Sarri after the Italian was relieved of his duties following his side’s Champions League exit to Lyon.

The Serie A giants were unable to turn around their 1-0 deficit going into Friday night’s game, crashing out of the competition on away goals.

The Old Lady lost three out of their final four league games, pipping Inter Milan to the Scudetto by just one point and also lost out to Napoli in the Coppa Italia final.

Sarri had been in the job for just one year, but with Juventus having failed to win a European Cup since 1996, the Lyon defeat proved to be the nail in his coffin.

According to the Daily Mail, Zidane has been placed at the top of their list to come in for next season, while ex-Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino follows closely behind as second choice.

The Real Madrid boss had to field questions on his future after his team were also eliminated from Europe at the hands of Manchester City.

Zidane said: ‘We will see what happens next season. Now it’s time to rest, I’m here and I’m the Real Madrid manager until something happens.’

The report states that Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli is set for talks with Madrid president Florentino Perez to enquire about the French boss.

The former Juventus midfielder has strong links with Agnelli and has been previously promised the job.

Cristiano Ronaldo is also said to be keen to reunite with Zidane, who he won three Champions League titles under at the Bernabeu.
