Chelsea will sanction the departure of Jorginho this summer to help finance their move for West Ham’s Declan Rice.

Frank Lampard’s summer spending spree has already begun in earnest with Kai Havertz likely to join from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth around £90million.

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner are already training with their new club following their moves from from Ajax and RB Leipzig but Lampard’s attention will now turn to strengthening a defence which represented his side’s Achilles’ heel last season.

Sergio Reguilon has been identified as a cheaper alternative to Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, while Chelsea remain in the hunt for a new goalkeeper with Lampard having lost patience with the club’s current record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Lampard is a huge admirer of Rice’s and reportedly views the versatile England international as the perfect candidate to build a new-look central defensive unit around.

Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori all endured mixed campagins and the latter is said to be interesting Ligue 1 club Rennes.

West Ham remain adamant Rice will not be sold this summer and value him in excess of £60m, but Chelsea could comfortably meet that asking price should they find a taker for Jorginho who is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Juventus, managed by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, remain keen on the Italy international despite having already Barcelona’s Athur Melo to their squad, effectively in exchange for Miralem Pjanic.

Asked about Sarri’s interest in signing his client, Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, did not deny that a move could be a possibility if Juve can find an agreement with Chelsea.

Santos said: ‘Sarri has never called Jorginho personally to talk about Juventus. I know there’s talk in the papers, but we have never had direct contact with Sarri or even director of sport Fabio Paratici.

‘When the directors Paratici and Marina Granovskaia find an agreement, if they find an agreement, then and only then can I talk about the situation.

‘Everyone knows there is a very strong rapport between Sarri and Jorginho after five years working together, I’d be a hypocrite to deny that, but I also want to remind you that Jorginho has three years left on his Chelsea contract.’
