Liverpool have had a £10million bid for Jamal Lewis rejected by Norwich City.

Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing a back-up for Andy Robertson and has identified Lewis as the perfect candidate following the Canaries’ relegation from the Premier League.

Lewis, 22, made 28 appearances in the top flight last term and he already has 12 caps for Northern Ireland.

The full-back is understandably keen on staying in the Premier League and he’s desperate to complete a move to the champions.

However, Norwich quickly rejected Liverpool’s opening offer as they’re seeking at least £20m for the full-back.

Norwich consider Liverpool’s bid to be well under their asking price, particularly as the fee was £8m upfront with a further £2m in add-ons.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will return with a second bid but the Reds have other options that they can explore.

Kostas Tsimikas, the Olympiacos full-back, is another target and he would represent a cheaper option.
