Dodgers: Will Smith Takes No Issue With Tatis For Running Him Over at the Plate

The Dodgers’ loss to the Padres on Monday night didn’t come without just a hint of drama. Players got a little chatty after a play at the player caused catcher Will Smith to get run over. Ultimately, nothing came of it.

Fernando Tatis Jr got caught up in between third and home on a short fly ball in the 7th inning. After getting into a run down, the play ultimately ended in Tatis colliding with Smith at home plate for the out. Players from the Dodgers side had a few words to say as they walked to their separate dugouts, but it did not appear to be more than that.

After the game, Smith was asked about the play at the plate. He talked about being out of position and that he did not feel like it was a dirty play

The play in real-time looked a lot worse than it actually was. Tatis shifted to the side on the play, so he did not end up putting his full force into Smith. Tatis did appear to take issue with Dodgers players having some words for him though.

The Dodgers will play two more games in San Diego before heading home for a series against the Giants. Dustin May will take the mound on Tuesday to try to even out the series after a one-run loss on Monday. May will face off against right-hander Dinelson Lamet, who has been very effective early on in 2020.

The Dodgers are now 7-4 after this loss to San Diego.
