Gabriel Magalhaes could become a Manchester United player in a matter of days, according to reports.
The 22-year-old impressed with Ligue 1 side Lille this season attracting interest from around Europe.
Napoli and Everton were said to be keen on a deal for the defender along with Man United.
L’Equipe reported this weekend that five clubs had submitted offers for Magalhaes, the three mentioned above plus two others.
Napoli were said to be leading the race for the Brazilian.
Italian journalist Emanuele Cammaroto had a different take on the situation, though, and said it was United who are ahead and a deal could be struck ‘in the next few days’.
The report claims that the Serie A club have bid around £20million while the Red Devils’ stands at £24.3million plaus a further £1.8million in bonuses.
The centre-back made 24 appearances in the shortened Ligue 1 season as Lille finished in fourth place.
Magalhaes joined Lille in 2017 for around £1.5million and had loan spells with Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb.
Arsenal were also said to be monitoring the defender in January but have other priorities this summer.
