Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an offer for Thiago Alcantara and are ready to match Bayern Munich’s asking price for the reported Liverpool transfer target.

The Spain international has spent the last seven years with the Bundesliga giants but is seeking a fresh challenge and the German giants are resigned to losing one of their key midfielders.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with the 29-year-old, despite Jurgen Klopp’s insistence that the Premier League champions, who pulled out of the race to sign Chelsea new boy Timo Werner, are unlikely to spend heavily this summer.

‘I have no idea who will play for me next year, there is nothing to say at the moment,’ Klopp told Sky Germany last week.

‘Thiago Alcantara is a great player, but also a Bayern Munich player. That’s actually all there is to say. There’s nothing to say!’

With the likes of Curtis Jones pushing for regular first team inclusion allied to Naby Keita’s recent improvement, Liverpool’s need for midfield reinforcements is not as pressing as it was.

PSG, however, are, according to Le 10 Sport, ready to firm up their interest in the former Barcelona star and table a bid in the region of €30million.

Thiago has just a solitary year remaining on his current contract but the French double winners, who resume their Champions League campaign imminently, are ready to pay top dollar for a player who is central to sporting director Leonardo’s rebuild.

The Brazilian is also said to harbour an interest in Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as well as AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer and Chelsea flop Tiemou Bakayoko.
